In this conversation, I sit down with Erika Lieberman (Erika the Harpist), a performer, teacher, and Renaissance fair harpist from New York.

What stayed with me most from our conversation wasn’t the festivals, the performances, or even the harp itself. It was the thread that kept weaving through everything we talked about: learning to trust your own path.

Erika speaks openly about self-doubt, imposter syndrome, balancing music alongside a full-time career, and the courage it takes to keep moving toward something that matters to you, even when you’re not entirely sure where it will lead.

We also talk about:

• The unique world of Renaissance fairs and the music that has grown from that community

• Recording and releasing her album A Fine Fair Day

• Teaching at the Somerset Folk Harp Festival and what she learned from stepping into a role that initially felt far beyond her comfort zone

Toward the end of our conversation, I asked Erika what advice she would give her younger self.

Her answer was simple:

“Follow your instincts. There isn’t a book or a person or anybody who can give you more wisdom than your own heart when it comes to following your dreams.”

I think many of us need that reminder from time to time.
