Using a drone to open the gates to meditative improvisation on the Harp

Hey ๐Ÿ‘‹,
Simcha here, and boy am i excited for sundays (Oct 23rd) upcoming workshop 'Finding Light In The Tension'
โ€‹
Here's a short video sharing one of the ideas we will work with in the workshop, using a drone to help create a meditative atmosphere, encouraging improvisation and exploration.
โ€‹
I find that using a drone can be so helpful in entering the magical space of a mode. (A drone is a steady note playing in the background, not those flying helicopter things...)
In general I break down the keys to accessing a modes unique song into two steps:
1) The Tonic or homebase of that given mode (in our case with F Lydian, its the F note)
2) The key melody note for opening that mode (in our case with F Lydian, its the B note)
We'll dive more into this on sundays workshop
โ€‹
I wont bore you anymore with the theory of this for now (you can catch up more on theory and why modes work in 'A Journey Through The Modes PTI on the StringsOfHope Youtube channel if you'd like), as the focus for this workshop will be more of a hands-on approach into playing the modes, without needing to understand them.
โ€‹
In this video I'm tuned to the key of C (no sharps or flats, or E A and B up if tuned to Eb), and using a simple F Drone recording in the background (found on spotify), and simply exploring over it, with a focus on playing that key 'B' note of this mode (4th note up from up from the root). I love how the drone fills in that empty space, and creates a universe for the players Lydian exploration to bloom and create.
โ€‹
So without further ado:

Hey Reader๐Ÿ‘‹ I just posted a new play-along harp videoโ€”a short Middle Eastern style lesson with a tanpura drone to help you find that meditative rhythmic flow. We're tuned to A Harmonic Minor scale. The video guides you through building a simple left-hand rhythm over an Indian Tanpura drone, then slowly layering in the right hand, using the G# from the harmonic minor scale to bring out the ancient middle eastern vibe. The Play Along lesson combines Middle Eastern, with Modes, Right and Left...
